Instructions

  1. Begin with properly fired white earthenware bisque. Moisten a clean sponge and wipe bisque to remove any dust.
  2. Using CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 2 coats of SC-16 Cotton Tail to the top of the mushrooms.
  3. Punch out the two sizes of dots with the paper punches.
  4. Brush the top of the mushrooms with water, in sections where you want white to show through. Place on the paper dots in the wet areas, making sure to press the edges flush to the piece.
  5. Using the Soft Fan brush, apply 3 coats of SC-74 Hot Tamale to the top of each mushroom. Brush around the paper dots, so some of the paper is left exposed, otherwise they can be hard to find later.
  6. Brush the third coat of SC-74 Hot Tamale in sections around the paper. Remove the paper with a pin or a needle tool while the glaze is wet. This will keep the glaze from chipping.
  7. Use the Soft Fan to apply 2-3 coats of SC-86 Old Lace under the tops and stems of the mushrooms.
  8. Use the tip of the CB-106 #6 Script Liner to apply thinned (with water) SC-14 Java Bean under the mushrooms into the grooves.
  9. Use the Soft Fan to apply 2 coats of S-2101 Clear to the mushrooms or dip in clear glaze.
  10. Fire to cone 06.
