If you're organising an event at home, you won't be able to fire your pieces in a kiln to a glossy finish. Instead you can use acrylic colour which dries without firing. This is a beautiful decorative finish, but it's not regarded as "food-safe" or waterproof, so it isn't suitable for cups, mugs or tableware.
