 Glass
What is the big deal with glass-fusing?
Glass is an exciting new area that is growing in popularity. The results you can achieve are truly stunning with a small amount of effort. Even the smallest pieces have great depth, which makes glass a perfect medium for jewellery, as well as other larger pieces.
This Beautiful range of glass is manufactured in Murano, Italy with the very finest raw materials available. This makes 'Murano' glass a legendary worldwide benchmark for quality in glass production. Murano is the 'Ferrari' of glass!!
Murano is an island near Venice which is steeped in history of glass production. For over a thousand years the artisans on the island have been producing beautiful pieces, today Venetian glass production is at its pinnacle, and now we are able to supply you with a wide range of glass products designed for use within the 'hobby' glass market.
The perfect way to expand your ceramic business
Glass is an obvious 'side-step' for a Ceramic studio to take. You already have the creativity, you already have an existing market of customers making wonderful ceramic pieces who will almost certainly be interested in glass, and crucially you already have a kiln. All you need is the glass!
Yes, you can use your existing kiln to fire glass. You need to program it slightly differently and be sure you do not put glass directly on the kiln shelves. We do have special 'Glass kilns' in stock which have special controllers and heating elements in the lid to radiate the heat directly and evenly onto the glass surface.
As well as very small 'table-top' kilns that run off a 13amp plug which fire quickly and are ideal for jewellery making.
Several studios are already adding glass to their range, both teaching students to create, as well as having a lot of fun creating themselves items to sell! Selling pendants and jewellery is a great way to finance the addition of glass to your business, but will also stir up a lot of interest from customers who will just love to come and have a go themselves!
